My journey with krump has been life-changing, coupled with the fact that it’s not just an ordinary dance style. I got to know about krump in my church, got converted, and made it a lifestyle.
As a Southern pioneer for Krump, I can say a handful of us went through so much adversity to open doors for our region to not only be recognized and welcomed but also respected as Krump. We truly had to earn our seat at the table as a coast.
I am Esteban Pinzon Restrepo aka Imposense from Colombia. I got to know Krump from the reality show Americas Best Dance Crew in the season where Street kingdom participated. 2 years later I began to practice the style, first it was in a very empirical way imitating what I saw in videos and movies, over time I was learning more about the basics and getting to know about the culture of my country and the whole world.
I am a leader here in my state and always push to inspire all those I come across. I learned a lot from Krump like the meaning of family, loyalty, and work ethic! Krump has given me some of the best memories of my life and taught me things that I carry into my real-life daily.
It was in the beginning of 2017 that I began to be interested in krump as a freestyle dance and started to join krump sessions with Badraw Fam, the only krump fam in Jakarta at that time.
I’ve been coming for about a good, solid three years going on for as far as actual dancing, however, I’ve been dancing for just about forever. I come from a dance family. So everybody in my family, for my brothers, my sisters, my parents, they were all dancers as well. So I feel like there are always factors that are leading me over towards Krump from watching a lot of the movies.
Princess Slam started dancing since she was a kid, dreaming of becoming a ballerina during her younger years. But everything changed when she saw the film step up and from then on wanted to go into street dancing.
Crush began his journey as a student of Krump in Los Angeles, California, shortly after the creation of the dance. 18 years later, he has evolved his style and expanded his influence to now be known as the “Prince of Krump”, a dominant and inspiring force in dance.
Dance helped me overcome my traumas, doubts and struggles at this early age.
